Young Writers' Workshop

Join a community of students who are passionate about creative writing. In this workshop, you’ll be guided through techniques to expand your imagination and strengthen your writing as you practice a range of genres, including poetry, creative nonfiction and short fiction. We’ll explore the writing process to generate new ideas, draft new work and revise both individually and as a group. Class time will be spent working from writing prompts, discussing selected texts and completing a final draft of a new original work. Our last day will end with a celebratory open mic/showcase of your creations!

Who It’s For

This course is for 6th to 8th graders who are passionate about creative writing and interested in developing their voice. It’s not for those who need remedial writing help, and all students should have a high level of English language proficiency.
