DIY Electronics
In this workshop, you’ll learn about basic electronics and start experimenting with circuit prototyping. We’ll build projects that make light patterns and cool noises as we explore LEDs, integrated circuits, resistors, capacitors, transistors and more. This is a hands-on learning experience with minimal theory and almost no math. Once you become familiar with the components, you’ll be able to rebuild and modify your projects, as well as make 3D sculptural electronics. By the end of the course, you’ll have the know-how to incorporate household materials into your projects.
What You’ll Learn
- The principles of simple electronics and how to apply them to your projects
- How to build, recognize and troubleshoot electronic circuits
- How to adapt or hack existing electronics to make unique projects
Who Should Register
This course is for incoming sixth to eighth graders. You don‘t need any previous experience in electronics to enroll, but you should be prepared to problem-solve and work on projects that require trial and error.
