Innovation Lab: Robotics & Coding
Calling young artists, engineers and anyone who likes to tinker! In this foundational STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) course, you’ll dive into coding and robotics with Sphero BOLT+, a robot with programmable sensors and an LED matrix. Get hands-on experience in block coding and JavaScript and build your computational thinking and coding skills while taking on creative challenges.
What You’ll Learn
- Foundations of electrical circuits, coding and robotics
- Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills used in the design process
- How to collaborate with peers to share ideas, tackle challenges and learn from one another
Who Should Register
This course is for fourth and fifth graders.
This course is offered multiple times a year to meet student demand. If you’ve already taken the in-person section, we recommend choosing another course.
More Information
The online course is taught using Zoom and Google Sites. Classes meet in real time and are not recorded. To participate, you should have access to a computer with a high-speed internet connection and a headset and webcam.
The in-person course is taught on the UW Seattle campus. You’ll need regular access to a laptop. If you can’t bring one, we have a limited number of laptops for students with demonstrated need. You’ll have the opportunity to request one during registration.
