Young Writers Workshop

Join a community of students who are passionate about creative writing. Practice good writing habits and skills as you learn about the craft. Throughout this two-week course, you’ll develop strategies for generating story ideas, use word building to create interesting settings and intriguing characters, and explore fun writing strategies to bring your ideas to life. We’ll write short stories, poetry and longer works. You’ll also learn how to make the editing and revision process fun and exciting. Our last day will end with a celebratory open mic/showcase of your creations.

What You'll Learn

  • How to harness your imagination and produce creative work in your own voice
  • Editing tips that’ll help you effectively revise your writing
  • How to cultivate creative habits of mind, such as critical thinking, reflection, courage, risk-taking and persistence
  • Tips for polishing and presenting your work to a group
