Art of Cinema: A Survey of Film Over Time
This course offers an introductory survey of film history, including the birth of film and great actors and directors. We’ll explore narrative, documentary and experimental forms, and you’ll acquire some of the critical, technical and aesthetic vocabulary related to cinematic practices and structures. You’ll also participate in lively conversations during class and through an online discussion board.
This is not a film production class. You’ll view a selection of films or film excerpts. We’ll avoid films with excessive violence, sexual content, drug use and profanity. However, excerpts from some R-rated titles may be screened. A consent form signed by your parent or guardian is required at the time of registration.
